The Gulf Coast Fantasy Racing website is an extension of an actual NASCAR fantasy league based in South Mississippi. The purpose of this website is to provide both a forum for fantasy league members and a resource for the NASCAR Nextel Cup community. In addition to providing in-depth statistical information for our team owners, we also strive to provide quality content for the greater NASCAR community in the form of articles, standings, statistics, and other relevant content pertaining to NASCAR stock racing and fantasy racing in general. Our ultimate goal is to establish an online presence which will allow stock car fans from around the world to take part in our unique brand of fantasy racing through the web.

The original idea for a NASCAR fantasy racing league came about in 1989 through members of a Pascagoula fantasy football league who were looking for entertainment during the NFL off-season. In 1991, Gulf Coast Fantasy Racing was officially formed in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. Since 1991, GCFR has been very active and today is made up of 36 teams. The team owners are from all along the Gulf Coast from Bay St. Louis to Mobile, Alabama and five of the current owners have been participating in the league since 1991. Since the inception of the league 14 years ago there been an amazing 72 different teams.

During a typical fantasy season, 13 live drafts take place at the Gulf Coast Sportsman's Club in Hancock County, Mississippi. The league holds several parties throughout the year, including a Banquet at year-end where are awards are presented to the top finishers. Drafts are held exclusively for team owners, but family members are invited to all league parties. All proceeds from the league are allocated to the year-end banquet and awards ceremony, parties, and donations to the Gulf Coast Spotsman's Club.
